[ARCHIVED] Neil Krupnick Appointed as Ward 1 Councilman

Hyde Park Town Board

On Monday, January 28, Hyde Park resident Neil Krupnick was appointed as Ward 1 Councilman to the Hyde Park Town Board. Mr. Krupnick replaces Emily Svenson who, after 7 years of dedicated service, left the board to concentrate on her law career. Ms. Svenson will continue working for the town as a volunteer coordinator of the Hyde Park Downtown Initiative, a project that she helped develop and manage.

Mr. Krupnick hit the ground running as a community volunteer since choosing to retire in Hyde Park with his wife, Ann. He has been a dedicated member of the Zoning Board of Appeals since 2017, and an enthusiastic supporter of the physical changes to the town executed by successive Rohr administrations. A writer/director/video editor by trade, he volunteered last year to oversee and implement the redesign of the town’s 18-year old website, and after its launch, has since served as the town’s Webmaster. He and Ann have created promotional videos for the Hyde Park Visual Environment Committee for its garden tour Hyde Park in Bloom and Home for the Holidays tour of decorated homes, as well as videos used for the Town’s Downtown Initiative web site.

Mr. Krupnick will bring his wealth of knowledge regarding social media platforms and marketing to the Town Board while working closely with outgoing Town Board member Emily Svenson for a seamless transition in representing Ward 1.

Ms. Svenson announced her plans to resign at the Town Board meeting on January 7th and officially stepped down from the Board on January 27th. In the interim, the remaining Board members interviewed candidates for her replacement and voted to appoint Mr. Krupnick in a unanimous 4-0 vote on Monday night. He will fill out the rest of Ms. Svenson’s term, which ends on January 1, 2020. All five Board seats will be up for election on November 5th, 2019.

Mr. Krupnick attended the University of Wisconsin where he received a B.A. in Communication Arts. Before graduating, he worked for the local ABC affiliate, directing the evening news and producing commercials. Mr. Krupnick has successfully managed his own production company business for twenty-five years. Some of his clients included Fox, Showtime, MSG and SyFy.

“With Mr. Krupnick’s extensive skill set and experience as a volunteer within the Town of Hyde Park, I am pleased to now welcome him aboard as the Ward 1 Councilmember for the Town of Hyde Park.”   – Aileen Rohr, Town of Hyde Park Supervisor
