IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE HYDE PARK TRANSFER STATION RUN BY ROYAL CARTING

Unfortunately, as most of you know, Royal Carting has pulled the weekly Saturday services for the "Transfer Station" at the Town of Hyde Park Highway Department in addition to pulling it out of several other municipalities as well.

The Town had no control over this as this was a courtesy Royal provided because the Town contracted with them for refuse removal.  Those charges did not include the running of a "Transfer Station".  Royal ran this independently with no costs incurred to the Town for these services.

With that being said, the Town has spent several weeks researching and trying to come up with alternatives as to how the Town can continue to provide this service to its residents.

However, the only alternative available was to refer residents to Recycle Depot.  Unfortunately, they do not accept regular trash for which many of you utilize the transfer station services for.  The Town also considered hiring a service in order to continue providing this amenity to our residents but again this was not feasible as it would cost the Town over $20,000 a year to operate and that did not include the hiring of staff to man the station as well.

With that being said, the Town will continue to research this to hopefully find a solution that once again will serve the needs of the residents of this Town.

We apologize for the inconvenience this will cause many of you but unfortunately, it was no longer cost-effective for Royal to continue this, and hiring them outright was not an option either.

The Town appreciates your patience and know that we will continue to look into this in the new year.

We will keep you posted on our efforts.

Your Town Supervisor,

Alfred Torreggiani
